Among them, there will be Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams, Amélie Mauresmo, Elena Dementieva, Daniela Hantuchova, Nathalie Dechy and Mary Pierce.

For its 2004 edition, the Open Gaz de France will, once again, have a prestigious line-up. The best players in the world will be there; including three of the five best WTA players. For the first time of her career, Kim Clijsters will play on the GreenSet of the Pierre de Coubertin stadium.

Ranked 1 in 2003, the Belgian player will be determined to win in Paris after losing two finals at the French Open in 2001 and 2003. However, she will have to be careful of the title holder, Serena Williams, who loves Paris, city where she won her first pro title in 1999 and who wants to keep the trophy.

Testud’s come-back

The last edition finalist, Amélie Mauresmo, will also be there to try to conquer the title for the second time after her win in 2001. She did a wonderful end of season 2003, and then she is the French public’s favorite.

Besides the seeded players, we can also count on Russian player Elena Dementieva, who reached the semi-finals last year and Slovakian player Daniela Hantuchova, who would like to shine in Paris after a disappointing season in 2003.

Among the French team, Nathalie Dechy, Mary Pierce, Emilie Loit, Marion Bartoli and Virginie Razzano should be present to create the surprise. We can also notice the Sandrine Testud’s come back, who was away from the court from June 2002, because she was expecting a baby
